Do you love comics, manga, anime, graphic novels, and visual storytelling? Are you passionate about helping young artists create original characters and bring their stories to life?

The Art Factory is looking for a talented artist with a passion for teaching to lead Comic Lab beginning in September 2026.

Comic Lab is more than a drawing class. It's a place where students learn to combine artistic skill with imagination as they create original characters, develop engaging stories, and explore the exciting world of comics, manga, anime, and graphic illustration. Students build confidence while strengthening their technical drawing abilities and discovering their own artistic style.

We're looking for someone who not only has exceptional artistic ability, but also understands how to teach the fundamentals of comic illustration in an engaging, age-appropriate way. The ideal instructor loves encouraging creativity while helping students build the technical skills that bring their ideas to life.

What You'll Do

• Teach drawing techniques specific to comics, manga, anime, and graphic illustration.
• Guide students through character creation, facial expressions, poses, anatomy, perspective, and dynamic composition.
• Help students develop original stories, characters, and worlds through visual storytelling.
• Break down complex artistic concepts into clear, engaging lessons for children.
• Encourage creativity while helping students strengthen their technical drawing skills.
• Create a positive, welcoming classroom where every student feels encouraged to take creative risks.
• Provide individualized feedback and support as students develop their own artistic style.

We're Looking For Someone Who...

• Has exceptional drawing skills and a strong understanding of comic, manga, anime, or graphic illustration.
• Has experience creating original characters and visual narratives.
• Enjoys working with children and knows how to make learning engaging and encouraging.
• Has strong classroom management skills.
• Can explain artistic concepts in simple, understandable ways.
• Is patient, positive, enthusiastic, and supportive.
• Loves inspiring young artists to imagine, create, and tell their own stories.
• Is dependable, organized, and excited to be part of a collaborative teaching team.

Qualifications

Preferred

• Strong portfolio demonstrating comic, manga, anime, illustration, or character design work.
• Experience with character design, storytelling, sequential art, or graphic novels.
• Experience working with children in an educational, camp, or youth setting.
• Experience teaching art is a plus.
• Background in illustration, animation, graphic storytelling, fine art, art education, or a related field is welcomed.

Schedule

• Weekly classes during the school year
• Classes begin the first week of September 2026
• Part-time position

Pay

• Starting at $14/hour
• Opportunities for pay increases based on performance, experience, and longevity.
