Role Overview
As a Comic Artist, you'll be responsible for visualizing characters, dialogue, and lore into sequential illustrations. You'll translate scripts or story outlines into dynamic layouts, expressive characters, and immersive backgrounds. This is a highly collaborative, creatively rewarding role that contributes directly to how readers experience story narrative and through supporting content.
Responsibilities
- Illustrate high-quality comic panels based on scripts, beats, or story outlines.
- Handle the full visual workflow: rough sketches, layout, inking, coloring, and final polish.
- Develop expressive character poses and facial expressions.
- Maintain consistent art style and visual continuity across pages and episodes.
- Adapting to existing art direction and style required by specific clients.
- Collaborate with writers, narrative leads, and art directors to ensure storytelling clarity.
- Deliver production-ready files with proper layer organization and naming.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience illustrating comics, webtoons, graphic novels, or visual narratives.
- Strong portfolio showcasing sequential art, storytelling, character work, and composition.
- Proficiency in drawing software such as Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop, or Procreate.
- Solid understanding of pacing, panel layout, visual rhythm, and mood lighting.
- Strong grasp of anatomy, gesture drawing, and stylized character design.
- Excellent communication and time management skills in a remote setup.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with motion comics or light animation.
- Experience adapting lore or IPs into visual storytelling.
- Knowledge of manga/webtoon formatting (vertical scroll, episodic layout).
- Experience working with art studios or outsourcing clients internationally.
