Character Design Sketches – Artist

Job Description

Hi everyone,

I’m a filmmaker based in NYC currently developing an original indie comic project (crime / political drama), and I’m looking to commission an artist for character design sketches as an initial step.

I’m looking for an artist whose style is naturally close to Yoji Shinkawa’s

I am not looking for:

• direct imitation or replication of his work
• artists trying to “adapt” their style to match his

I’m specifically looking for someone whose work already exists in that space, while still feeling personal and original.

About the project:

• Title: City of Kings
• Genre: Crime / political drama
• Tone: grounded, character-driven, slow-paced
• This is a new, original universe
• Rough character design sketches
• This is a paid commission

Future collaboration:

I’m hoping to build a relationship with the right artist for future work.

That said, I want to be transparent:

• This is a fully indie, self-funded project
• Future production will likely depend on a Kickstarter campaign

Regardless of how the project evolves, I’m always looking to build long-term creative relationships, including potential collaboration on film pitch decks and other visual projects.
