Mangaka/Manga Artist

Job Description
TAG Manga is a new North American manga anthology set to publish six original series totalling 220 pages every month in print. We're building something that doesn't exist yet: a publisher that combines the anthology format of Shonen Jump with creator-first economics and global storytelling ambition. Our first issue ships to subscribers and Ingram-distributed bookstores simultaneously. We are not a passion project. We are a publishing company with distribution infrastructure and a long-term commitment to the artists who build this with us.
What you'll do every month
- 38 pages of sequential black & white manga art per month
- 1 full-color chapter cover per month
- Character turnaround sheets for new characters (as needed)
- Print-ready 600 DPI TIFF files per Ingram spec
- Digital files for simultaneous web/digital release
What we're looking for
- Exceptional fight choreography (action must READ clearly panel to panel)
- Strong figure anatomy (battle-worn bodies, weight and impact)
- Architectural environments (fortress cities, iron gates, arenas)
- Screentone/texture work for dramatic shadow effects
- Experience with 30+ page monthly deadlines
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We are currently in active hiring for all six series. Shortlisted artists will be contacted within 14 days. Strong applications will be invited to complete a paid test page ($150 flat fee, compensated regardless of outcome).

Your application must include

- A brief message (3–5 sentences) explaining why you are the right manga artist
- At least 3 examples of sequential manga pages from your portfolio (NOT character art or pinup illustration)
- Your current availability and capacity for a monthly 30–40 page commitment
