Hellol! This is the first time we've ever done anything like this. A job posting that is.
Pulling back the curtain a bit, back in the day with Peow, we were a group of three running the publisher, all editing / assisting in editing and acquiring books, and we even brought on an extra editor at one point.
We all had a central common ground, but we believed in the strength of having different artistic interests and the ability of each editor to find "peow-coded" work from their own personal avenues. It was one of the keystones of what made publishing special, both personally and for the line of books that we released.
Peow2 started in a different place and has just one main editor , but this year we are planning to go back to the multi-editor style. This was probably always our long-term goal, but it's our 2026 mission. We've already locked in one general editor, and we're looking for two more collaborators to grow our publishing line and make it, in general, better. If you’re a fan of our books, this is a special opportunity to help shape the future of Peow2 and make some of the best books ever.
Roaming Editor
Freelance, Project based
Instead of a traditional editorial role, the Peow2 editor is a little bit different. To start, you’ll be searching, finding, acquiring and editing 1 - 3 books per year that fit the Peow2 line, but how you go about it, and exactly how many titles you work on is completely up to you. There are no fixed workdays or set hours. This is fully remote and paid per project (i.e. each book you edit is a project).
If you are a fan of our books already, that’s perfect. We are looking for someone who is familiar with the curated line of books from Peow & Peow2 and feels like they have a good understanding of our taste, but most importantly, you should have an eye for what could be a future Peow2 book. You will be wielding great power with the books you edit, and your contributions will be helping shape the future of Peow2.
We’re currently looking for two new editors. A French language editor to assist in bringing in new books from French artists (or French language comics), and a Japanese language editor for Manga.
French Editor
The French editor is someone who is based in France, and fluent in French, We expect you to be excited and knowledgeable about BD, both current working artists and older works, but our main interest for french comics is with new contemporary artists or with books that have already been published (indie books or large publishers, self published, either is ok). It’s a huge plus if you already have connections or working relationships with artists, editors, or publishers.
Japan Editor
The Japanese editor should be based in Japan, and fluent in Japanese. We expect you to be excited and knowledgeable about (Japanese) manga, both current working artists, but also older works, especially manga from between 1980 - 2010 is of interest to us. It’s a huge plus if you already have connections or working relationships with artists, editors, or publishers.
How you might be working on books
- Acquiring translation rights for previously published works
- Establishing relationships with established artists to develop new comics
- Developing comics with new up-and-coming artists
- Reviewing comics or artists that we send your way for consideration
And part Peow2 editing includes:
- Project management and keeping our books on schedule!
- Professional and timely communication with authors
- Writing cover copy, web copy and solicitation materials for your books
- Collaboration on marketing & PR planning for each book
- Ability to write, flap/cover and book description copy
