Graphic Novel Artist
Job Description
Hi,
NOT LOOKING FOR A MANGAKA!
I’m a writer currently developing a graphic novel project and I’m looking for an artist with a strong sense of anatomy, body language and cinematic staging.
The project is a character-driven graphic novel set in a surreal rock-and-roll afterlife setting. The story blends rock culture, mythology and psychological drama in a surreal setting.
- With an emphasis on psychological reactions, posture, silence, and visual acting.
- Less action choreography, more emotional presence and storytelling through pose.
Stylistically, I am looking for something closer to:
European / Italian school
(Moebius, Manara, Serpieri, Jordi Bernet, Fernando Dagnino)
as opposed to manga or heavy screentone workflows.
Clean pencils or light inks are perfectly acceptable.
In fact I am open to working from strong pencils only if the posing and line clarity are there.
The goal is to prioritize:
- expressive body language
- weight and posture
- believable facial acting
- cinematic panel composition
over heavy rendering or tonal effects.
Budget starts at 70–80 USD per page depending on complexity and whether the work is tight pencils or inks.
I’m prioritizing strong posing and expressive storytelling over heavy rendering.
If interested, please send:
- sequential storytelling samples (not pinups)
- preferably dialogue scenes or acting focused pages
Thanks a lot
