Job Description

Hello everyone! We are hiring an artist for an alternate cover for the fourth issue of Otherkin. This is a paid opportunity. Below, we try to be as transparent as possible about what we need and the expected workflow, so you can set your rates accordingly. However, if you have any additional questions, just ask, and we'll reply asap.

What do we need:

• A comic book cover illustration for Otherkin #4. We need the final file to be digitized, but artists who work with traditional methods are welcome to apply if they have the means to digitize their work.
• The rights to use your illustration in digital and print copies of Otherkin #4.
• The rights to add your Otherkin #4 cover to any future digital or physical collection of Otherkin that includes issue #4.
• An NDA concerning the story and workflow of Otherkin.

Art style we want:

• We are not looking for a specific arstyle. In fact, we would prefer to hire an artist who has a unique voice (we like creepy and unconventional stuff).
• That said, we do have some constraints:
  • No AI, of any kind, in any step of the process.
  • No traditional manga style.
  • No traditional Western superhero style.

Workflow:

• We have a call to align expectations and determine the terms of our legal agreement.
• We write a legal agreement with all the details of our work relationship.
• Once the agreement is signed, you get 50% of the payment and all the material you might need (previous issues, issue #4 script, anything else you ask us during our call).
• You present two or three concepts for the cover (the goal is to avoid you working on a final art that might not fit our project).
• Once a concept is approved, you move to the actual production of the cover.
• The remaining 50% of the payment will be delivered to you once the final art is delivered.
• We know freelancing is chaotic, and artists are frequently juggling many gigs. However, we expect the cover to be fully finished by the third week of February. Please, only apply if you have the time in your agenda to finish this task in this time frame.
