TITLE: Managing Editor

Description:

Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, the Managing Editor will primarily oversee project management, schedule management, communication, and organization required to ensure that the company’s publishing projects are completed on-time according to the company’s high standards across both the Vault Comics and AETHON: Vault lines of books, as described below.

The Managing Editor will also coordinate with the Editor-in-Chief and other members of the Editorial Department to support curation and acquisition of titles for the Vault Comics line of books. Additionally, the Managing Editor will coordinate with the company’s Sales & Marketing and Design & Production departments to facilitate successful design, production, and sales outcomes.

Alongside other members of the Editorial Department, the Managing Editor will also assist in the creation of critical metadata for publications. Candidates should have significant prior professional experience managing and organizing creative projects.

Preference may be given to candidates with prior success managing or coordinating comic books, graphic novels, books, and/or crowdfunding projects.

As noted above, the responsibilities of the Managing Editor are principally project management and related communication, and the Managing Editor should expect to do less creative development or creative editorial work than might be typical in other editorial roles.

The Managing Editor role is a mid-level, full time, salaried, fully remote position, with significant possibility of career advancement.

This is an extremely demanding position and only highly motivated candidates should apply. Applicants for the Managing Editor position may also be considered for Vault’s concurrently open Associate Editor position.
