Job Description

Hi! I'm searching for a dedicated artist for a very long-term fantasy webtoon project.

I'm the author of an extensive dark fantasy series, something I've worked on for over a decade, and I'd really love to see it come to life in a comic/webtoon format. Fantasy, character development and stories, and world lore are all at the forefront, while romance is a secondary plot. The main romance is between the two male main characters, while secondary characters eventually have their own arcs, some including romance. The series is very LGBTQ orientated, and there's a huge variety of characters, as well as fantasy creatures - werewolves, vampires, dragons, etc. - so the artist would need to be comfortable drawing all of this, as well as battle scenes, blood/gore, potentially triggering theme moments like physical abuse, gaslighting, etc. If you're not comfortable with anything, please let me know; it's possible to avoid certain scenes altogether and 'fade to black'.

There are references for every character, location, creature, item etc. so you wouldn't have to design anything yourself from scratch (unless, of course, you want to - I'm very comfortable with artists wanting to take on however much creative control as they like)

I am happy to discuss pricing; what I've entered is just a sort of starting point. However, regarding the actual art process, I have the first 3 chapters laid out as sketches and rough line art, some pages even fully complete in black and white (because I started this off as a graphic novel, but the artist couldn't continue), so the workload there wouldn't be so much for the artist, I'd assume just a quick redraw in your style and then colour and dialogue. And then from chapter 4 onwards, we can discuss new pricing as from this point there will only be rough written storyboarding to go from; this new pricing can be either per panel or per 'chapter', or per page still if we use a page format for rough planning.

Here's a very rough idea of pricing going off what I have paid previous artists.

Chapters 1-3 total 59 pages. To redraw and colour, $500 per 20 pages, or flat $1500. This is completely negotiable.

And per chapter onwards, (optionally) drawing from my guided storyboards, $700-$900 per 20 pages depending on detail. Again, entirely negotiable.

Or, ballpark, $1000 per chapter (some chapters have less than 20 pages, some have more, so the $1000 for a chapter with say 14 pages, can include 6 pages of the next chapter). Also totally negotiable.

Additionally, when I say 'pages', I mean taking the panels of chapters 1-3 from the graphic novel/comic-style format and separating and arranging them in a webtoon format.

As mentioned, this is a very long-term project. The novel series currently has five main volumes published as well as three side arcs. Right now, I am in the process of writing book nine.
