Job Description

Stone Kite is a world building studio that thoughtfully develops heroic universes across games, film, TV, comics, audio, and more. Built by veterans from game and entertainment studios such as Marvel, Disney, Pixar, Bungie, and Riot, our team leverages expertise and passion to build worlds that matter.

We’re looking for a Senior Editor to lead and shape our comics line from the ground up. Partnering with studio leadership, you’ll guide the creative and production process for original series that expand our flagship worlds and help define the Stone Kite voice in publishing. This is an opportunity to join our team during a foundational phase and help craft stories that connect across media.

This role is located onsite in the Santa Monica HQ office.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and oversee the full publishing plan for Stone Kite’s domestic and international comics line Manage every stage of the editorial process, from concept through release, including scheduling, creative feedback, copy-editing, art prep, deliverables, and contracts.
  • Curate and cast projects with a focus on diverse, global talent; maintain strong relationships with writers, artists, and publishing partners.
  • Partner with leadership on new IP development and ensure cross-functional alignment with internal incubation teams and company goals.
  • Provide mentorship and oversight for an Assistant Editor and a network of freelancers.
  • Prepare and present updates, creative decks, and status reports for studio leadership.
  • Contribute to broader narrative ideation across media and support select prose initiatives.
  • Represent Stone Kite’s comic publishing lines to internal and external partners and media as needed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 6+ years experience as a comics editor, with at least 4 years in project or team management is required.
  • Proven track record delivering high-quality comics or graphic novels from concept to publication.
  • Established relationships across the comics industry and familiarity with international talent networks.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and task-management tools (Asana, Trello, Notion, etc.) is required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and editorial skills with a passion for quality.
  • Strong copy-editing and proofreading skills with attention to tone and detail.
  • Experience managing a direct report is required
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-moving, creative environment.

The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000. The compensation package will also include a range of generous medical, dental, vision and other perks & benefits. Compensation decisions are determined using a variety of job-related factors such as skill set, geographic location, market demands, experience, and education / certifications. If we extend an offer for employment, we will consider all individual qualifications.
