Job Description

Hey everyone,

We’re Taylored Media Studios, a small indie studio that works on manga and webcomics. We are currently looking for new talent to join our team.

For the past three years, we've worked on smaller projects and are now revamping the studio to bring our own style to life. We're looking to fill all roles in our workflow: Storyboarding, Character Art, Background Art, Inking, Coloring, FX/Compositing, and Typesetting. We're seeking new talent because most of our previous artists have moved on to pursue other careers or to focus on their own personal projects.

Regarding payment, we typically pay per panel, with rates ranging from $2 to $5 USD. The rate is determined by the specific role and your skill level. We have senior artists on the team to assist and review your work. As your work requires fewer reviews and edits, we increase the per-panel rate. This system is similar to workplace promotions but is based directly on the quality and efficiency of your output.

During client webcomic projects the standard workload is approximately 50 panels per week. You are welcome to apply for multiple positions; as long as you can meet deadlines and maintain quality, you can work in more than one role. We also encourage artists who want to learn a new skill to practice using our internal assets. For example, a colorist interested in learning character line art could complete a few panels per week for review and coaching. This helps you grow so you can apply your new skills to your own projects or take on more work at the studio.

Below, you will find an example image showing the different roles and the minimum quality we expect. Detailed instructions and assistance materials for each role are provided in the links. These resources include example PSD files for the coloring workflow, style guides for characters, character sheets, and more.

For the submission process:

We will conduct an initial round of approvals based on the work you provide. For applicants we approve, we may then request specific edits to simulate a real working environment. Lastly, we will reach out with an invitation to join the team and answer any questions you may have. We also encourage you to submit your portfolio, as we are very interested in seeing your personal work.
