Prepress Technician
Job Description
Dark Horse Comics, the Milwaukie, Oregon Company responsible for Hellboy, Minecraft, Umbrella Academy comics (and many more), is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Prepress Technician to join our team.This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position in a creative, fast-paced industry: comic books and genre publishing. Candidates must have a strong foundation of graphic software skills (Adobe Creative Suite), an eye for color and detail, patience for repetitive tasks, and be open to performing a variety of duties relating to prepress and digital art quality assurance in both print and digital publishing.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Quality controlling assets for use in final print production
- Print publishing layout and final print file output
- Asset management and organization
- Communicating project status to project managers
- Communicating and troubleshooting concerns with multiple vendors
- Formatting asset files for cross-platform use (print media and digital publishing)
- Outputting proofs on SureColor wide-format printer for review.
- Maintaining and adhering to tight schedules and deadlines.
Preferred Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience in process four-color/CMYK digital file preparation and output.
- Must be EXTREMELY fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to multitask, as well as adapt to changing schedules and tight deadlines.
- Positive and professional attitude.
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary.
- Familiarity with comics and/or publishing industry (a plus)
