Japanese - English Translator
Job Description
Tappytoon brings the new wave of comics and webtoons to the world. We curate a growing range of officially licensed comics from top creators through our app and website.
We are looking to hire remote freelance Japanese-English translators who share our love for webtoons and comics!
Responsibilities:
- Provide quality translation of Japanese dialogue/narrative text and sound effect words into English
- Adhere to Tappytoon quality, style, continuity, content guidelines
Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Native English speakers with excellent writing skills
- Fluency in Japanese
- Strong understanding of comics, manhwa, manga, and related Japanese pop culture
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Photoshop skills (no advanced use or image editing is needed, but some work may be required with the Text tool and related functions)
- Previous writing, translation, or editing experience in a creative field
- Previous experience with translating literature/manhwa/manga
- Understanding of Mature and BL/GL materials
- Comfortable working on a variety of mature materials
Please Note:
- Candidates must have a valid visa that allows them to work freelance if currently in Korea
- Applicants that reside overseas can also apply for the position
- Available for a mandatory training session in Yeoksam OR online training (will be online training for those who reside overseas)
- If available, we highly recommend that you include translation/writing samples.
